Current Resident Move-Out Information

Here is some helpful information for the move out process. We also want to thank you for your business and
wish you the best in your future endeavors. Congratulations graduates!
Please note that you must be completely moved out by Noon of your lease termination date. Please secure
your apartment (close and lock the windows, close the blinds, lock the entry door) and turn all keys and
parking passes in to the office (Cedarview East Apartments, 1390 East Grand River Avenue) by Noon on
your lease termination date.
UTILITIES: Please call to disconnect your utilities:
CHANGE OF ADDRESS: Fill out a change of address form for the post office so that you will receive your
mail. You can do this online at www.usps.com. Prime Housing Group is not affiliated with the United States
Post Office - we do not handle or forward any mail. Remove your name from the mailbox so the letter carrier
will take your mail back to the post office and look for a change of address form.
CHECK OUT PROCESS: Place all of the keys and parking passes in an envelope clearly marked with your
building name and number. Turn the envelope in to the office at 1390 East Grand River Avenue, East
Lansing. The office will be open move-out weekend, Saturday and Sunday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. If the office
is closed, please slide the envelope through the slot by the office door. Do not give your keys to the
manager.
You must be completely moved out of the apartment and your keys and parking pass(es) must be turned in
by Noon of your termination date. $5.00 will be charged for each original key and $50.00 for each parking
pass not returned by that date. Any property left in the apartment after the keys are turned in to the office
will become the property of Prime Housing Group - disposal charges will be assessed.
SECURITY DEPOSIT: We put check-out paperwork under your apartment door. We only write one security
deposit check. It will be made payable to all the people that are on the lease. If we receive a waiver signed
and dated by ALL of the people on the lease then we will fill out that ONE check as you instruct. Please see
the waiver in your check-out paperwork.
Place the check-out sheet in the envelope with your keys and parking pass(es). You must return this sheet
to receive the deposit. If you subleased the apartment from someone, be sure to send them your forwarding
address (if they are holding your security deposit). Legally, we have up to 30 days to return the security
deposit that you are entitled to. Please do not call unless it is after 30 days and you have not received your
security deposit.
HELPFUL HINTS:
- Leave the refrigerator off, unscrew the light bulb slightly and leave the door ajar. DO NOT UNPLUG
THE FRIG.
- Place the plunger on the floor in front of the toilet.
- Make sure the fire extinguisher is on the hook where it was installed.
- Make sure all your smoke alarms have working batteries in them - there is a $25.00 charge for each
disabled/missing smoke alarm battery.
- Close and lock the entry door, patio doors and windows. Close your vertical blinds.
- Make sure all of your furniture and personal belongings are removed from the entire apartment/house,
basement and garage - there will be a charge for the removal and disposal of any remaining items.
- Please do not drive your vehicles across the lawn during move-out.
